Sara
Hello, my name is Sara I’m a qualified occupational therapist and I love supporting people to build confidence, develop skills, and find meaning through enjoying activities and being in the natural world. I have a particular passion for supporting people through Horticultural Therapy and visual arts.
I’ve worked in health and social care for over 25 years and have experience of working in hospitals care homes and the community. Through this I have gained experience of working with people with a range of physical and mental health challenges including neurological conditions, dementia and traumatic injuries.
I have a background in art included a degree in ceramics, and previously worked as a community artist helping adults, children and families improve wellbeing and connect with each other through creative expression. Currently I work for a neurorehabilitation company supporting people recovering from brain injury to rehabilitate through regaining function for daily activities such as washing and dressing, as well as meaningful activities like gardening and woodwork. I also work with neurodivergent young people unable to attend mainstream school due to mental health difficulties, helping them to develop skills and improve wellbeing through nature-based group work.
My experience as an occupational therapist enables me to share my knowledge in the areas of fatigue management, working towards goals, establishing routines and healthy habits and understanding sensory experiences. I am available to provide companionship and support to help with daily life, or pursuing a specific goal at home or in the community. I also have experience of working as a gardener and I can offer companion gardening for people who love gardening but need help to manage it. I love helping people to find ways to stay engaged and active in the garden, while also helping with general maintenance.
If you think I would be a good match to support you or a relative or friend, do reach out I am very happy to chat further and see what’s possible.
