Ivana

Total cost per hour: £20.20 (incl fees)

Hello! My name is Ivana (she/her) and I have been living in and loving Bristol since 2019. I am of European heritage and speak English and French fluently, as well as beginner Spanish and German. My professional background is in youth and adult mental health. For over a decade I have worked in various caring roles addressing issues of equity amongst marginalised groups experiencing complex barriers to health and wellbeing.I am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor (BACP registered) and practice part-time with an organisation providing free trauma informed therapy to survivors of sexual abuse and violence. Because of my life experiences and training (and spirit!), I approach relationships from a psychologically informed perspective, believing in and advocating for person-centred care first and foremost. When not working, I enjoy pottering, growing houseplants, long walks, reading, soaking up art (live music, clowning, story telling, spoken word), writing and performing poetry, and spending time with friends and family.I believe in the power of presence in relationship, in connecting meaningfully with people, place, and, first and foremost, self. I believe that access to community goes hand in hand with access to health and am motivated to work with organisations who are building and nurturing community in caring, creative and sustainable ways. Here are some examples of how I might be able to support you:- completing light domestic tasks i.e. cooking, cleaning, shopping, gardening and basic DIY - you name it and we can discuss it!- tackling administrative tasks i.e. making phone calls, email & letter reading/writing and any online admin - basically getting your head around systems so they can best serve you, whether that be paying your council tax or booking a GP appointment - again, you name it and we can discuss it!- connecting you with specialist support - there is so much support that is free at point of access in Bristol, but it can be an overwhelming task knowing where to start - how to find the right service for you, how to refer yourself, and how to keep up engagement when there are complex barriers in place - I have over ten years professional experience working in multi-agency settings where supporting access to specialist services has been a key part of my role- advocating for you - do you struggle communicating your health needs to your GP? are you unsure of your housing rights and options? are you feeling stuck with a benefit claim? have you been involved in the criminal justice system and needing to navigate complicated processes there? I can offer a safe supportive space for you to make sense of your needs and goals, and find a stronger clearer voice to navigate challenging systems to your advantage- supporting you to access education, employment and training i.e. talking through your dreams and goals, exploring your options, building and editing your CV/cover letter, completing applications, preparing for interview - encouraging you at every step of the way- walking and talking - are you struggling to get outside and engage with your community for reasons which feel outside of your control? whether it be anxiety around unknowns (new people and places), depression or low mood impacting on your energy levels and motivation, a disability which makes navigating the city a challenge, I can literally hold your hand (if needed) to support you to get out there and broaden your horizons in a way that will be respectful of your safety needsThose are a few examples, but feel free to contact me if you have a more specific need and we can talk it through together.I have flexibility around availability, so again, reach out and we can talk about when/where and how we might meet!Looking forward to hearing from you.Warm wishes,Ivana

David

Total cost per hour: £24.20 (incl fees)

Hello, my name is David Bowers and I am a handyman with a difference! I have been working for the last couple of years under the name of ‘Dave and his Van’ however, I have past experience as a registered nurse and so I pride myself on combining my handyman skills with a caring supportive approach to any and all work I do.Over the last two years I have done a whole range of jobs for different people, including those who are elderly or more vulnerable which I have always enjoyed and often go back to. Yes, I am there to provide a service, but I can appreciate that sometimes sitting down for a cup of tea and a chat is equally important. As well as the handyman side of my work I also have a waste carrier licence, so I can collect and dispose of any waste to a commercial waste station. The cost of disposing depends on the type of waste but this can be easily explained as/when required.I have experience with garden jobs, such as garden clearing, pruning, basic landscaping, fencing, paths, shed bases, building bin stores, etc. I also offer hoarding support, having had experience both professionally and within my wider family I have an in depth understanding of the issues around hoarding and support needed in these difficult circumstances.Between working as a Handyman and previously being a nurse, I am also a mosaic artist. I’ve done a lot of work in primary schools and other community spaces (e.g. Windmill Hill City Farm), so if you see any mosaics around the BS3 area it may well be one of my projects. Because of this, I can do tiling work and could even also teach you some new skills. My availability is flexible depending on the work required. I’m happy to do day/evening or weekend work and can be booked in for a morning/afternoon, day, week, etc depending on requirements. My rates vary between £18-20 per hour depending on the job and if it’s a short or a long-term project. I can quote for any project and give you an estimated cost but also happy to work to an agreed budget if needed. Please bear in mind that any costs quoted do not include the BS3 Community Care fee.On a final note, when working with a client recently they came up with the idea that I am a “handyman with a heart” and yes it does sound a little cheesy but in truth I believe this does describe me rather well and I take pride in being described this way!!Please contact me or BS3 Community if you would like to discuss or have any questions.
